Good evening, planning for a road trip next year and would like any experiences please of doing the Austrian passes. Starting at the West side of Austria and having a couple of nights at each stop, what would be a good route? So Sankt Anton am Arlberg would be starting point then head East before swinging south to Cortina. Then back West taking in Stelvio etc. before heading back in the direction of Black Forest and finally Ijmuiden. Thoughts?? Hotels recommendations? Links? Thanks in anticipation.

From St Anton head east via Kitbuhel, and then south using the Grosglockner Pass. Stunning, although pricey (toll road), and busy, but worth it. From Cortina we did the Passo de Giau. Anywhere in the Dolomites is worth it.
Stelvio is great to look at, but not drive.

I can recommend Großglocknerstraße and Nockalmstraße.

From Nockalmstr. you can then go across the Katschberg and then via Obertauern back towards Salzburg and Germany

Depending on when you go, you need to check if the roads are already open (this year there was a lot of snow, so stayed closed longer)

Silvretta Strasse, a loop south (through Galtur/Ischgl) around St Anton is also worth considering.

Just looked at that, looks a fine run but must still be closed now as maps doesn't allow me to route through it. Thanks for the advice smile

Many are still closed at this time of year. Some only fully opened in early July last year due to the snow levels.

Austria and the Dolomites can suffer from heavy traffic as many of the roads you will drive on are main transport arteries without alternatives. Having said that there are some gems. Grossglockner as mentioned is not to be missed, and my favourite in the area is Timmelsjoch which straddles the Austria/Italy border south of Innsbruck. A toll road but much cheaper than Grossglockner and has a quirky restaurant at the summit.

not sure if it's en-route but the Auracher Löchel, Kufstein is lovely place to stay with a nice restaurant/bar next door.
