Harrogate - Angus. Inspiration required.
Discussion
I'm travelling from Harrogate to home in Angus tomorrow and I'm looking for inspiration for both directions.
I'll likely head over the A65 before joining the M6, normally I'd take either the A7 or A702 to Edinburgh but this time I'm considering a slight(!) detour via Loch Lomond > Crianlarich > Pitlochry > Blairgowrie - I fear I may regret that decision!
I've travelled the A68 plenty of times so know full well the fun parts are out weighed by the endless non-overtaking opportunities afforded by the cameras.
Not overly bothered about length of the drive, it's a shame that Glasgow - Stirling can't be cut out!

A701 Moffat to Edinburgh is much better than the A702 imo. A708 Moffat to Selkirk are well worth doing.
Up north of Glasgow, I’d be heading for the ‘Duke’s Pass’ from Aberfoyle to Callander. Bit of a detour if you’re determined to go up by Loch Lomond though. My experience of the A82 up there is that of frustration as it’s just too busy. The twisty bit right by Loch Lomond has very little overtaking opportunities.

Well that was a long day in the 595 Comp - 400 miles and 8.5hrs.
Blairgowrie > Pitlochry not quite as enjoyable as I remember, I think Pitlochry > Blairgowrie is far more rewarding.
Pitlochry > Callendar via Loch Tay was a delightful drive.
Duke's Pass is a spectacular road, I certainly wasn't expecting the twists and turns, it's a shame the road surface is somewhat poor, especially on the Eastern side.
Aberfoyle > Balloch was a complete waste of time! Absolutely nothing at all to recommend it and an add on which added at least 90 mins to the journey home.
Surprisingly one of my favourite drives of the trip was a 'local' stretch from Forfar > Friockheim, a fantastic road perfectly suited to the 595 and enjoying it within the NSL.
