Where is this road, I need to drive it????
Discussion
Some of you may be familiar with Matt Farrah and his "One Take" videos, but having just watched this epic drive in the new Fort GT I need to know where this road is so that I can give it a go when I visit California latter this year. Could anyone please give me the details?
As for the video, well let’s just say he does not hang about.....

Hi there,
Most of his stuff is Malibu Canyons, but try Kanan Dume Rd...
Thinking of getting somewhere over the ridge towards 1000 Oaks, and hopefully there in summer to do a long recce and will double-check!
There are so many great roads round there however. Fantastic part of the world.

Most of his One Takes seem to be filmed in the Angeles Forest; not a lot of roads there but they all look epic, I remember having a look on street view a few times. I'd love to take a drive through there. Fantastic roads through stunning scenery and seemingly no traffic... And what traffic there is seems more willing to let you past.
Pretty sure Big Tujunga Canyon Road features in a few of them. I haven't watched all the GT video yet, but he might have driven up it. I know he went through a tunnel at one point, might help you find it.

A local will know for sure, but honestly you can head to anywhere NW of LA and there are so many great routes.
I'd like to point out before I'm corrected that I didn't get the "one take" video when I searched "matt farah ford GT", I got the b-roll video so I was going from this.
I'll watch the one take video as linked in the OP to double check!

Come on dude I'll watch the one take video as linked in the OP to double check!

I need to know now as well!
Mulholland is still on my shortlist...

Well it does look like you could be right. I can’t believe such a good looking road appears to be so lightly populated. Is it a time of day thing as in that video he appears to be really pushing on in the GT, I suspect at many times in well in excess 100mph which he comments on in the video.Anyway I will be hiring some heavy metal for a day or so to give that road a try latter in the year
These aren’t particularly busy roads as most traffic is in and around the cities and on the freeways. Crisscrossing the canyons tends not to lend itself to heavy traffic and one way of looking at is that its their equivalent of a British country road connecting small villages.
Not to say it’s lightly policed, but if you can, get a friend as a spotter to see that everything is clear up ahead.
Although it’s set on another part of Mulholland (and in another era), try and watch “King of the Mountain” with a young Harry Hamlin. Shows these sort of roads as they were, and to a large degree as they still are!

Yep, looks like Angeles Crest Highway or one of the similar roads around there. Head for La Canada Flintridge (almost due north of LA downtown) and go north from there. I went in March a couple of years ago (up before dawn, was there for first light) and the road was closed past Cedar Springs but that still gives a lot of virtually deserted road to play on. Plenty of large flat tarmac areas like that for doing things like "testing" line lock on your rented Mustang.
Apparently Angeles Forest Highway and the Big Tujunga Canyon Road (just off ACH) are worth a look too.
Main hazard isn't police but rocks. Stuff falls off those steep sides all the time and you can come around a corner to find a sump-destroying rock in the middle of your lane. Always worth a slower sighting pass first.

As above, this is the Angels Crest Highway. I live very near the Ortega Highway which connects Orange County with the Inland Empire and is also an excellent driving road if you can get it when its quiet.

Ah ha....I could swear Farah has talked of Malibu canyons as being a favoured spot for his drives, but can see that on this vid he’s used Angels Crest like you’re all confirming.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DAAajbTGPMk

If you’re nearby, what are the roads like round Silverado? Any good?
I’ve strayed towards Long Beach but not any further - need to experience other areas.
I also keep meaning to check out Oceanside at least once - I hear that’s where they film my current favourite program - Animal Kingdom!
Bit of a shame someone’s moved this thread into a sideforum; much more interesting than hearing from yet another newbie 1 post poster who’s just crashed their car, can’t spell and needs urgent insurance advice!

Threads like this are far more interesting.

Inland San Diego is also pretty good, a few wine regions as well making a nice day out / drive around. Oceanside isn't the best of the San Diego beach cities if I'm honest. La Jolla probably being the highlight along with Carlsbad.
Silverado is tiny, so only one road in and out, I've never driven it so I don't know.

There are a ton of great roads in an around Malibu and the surrounding mountain ranges so plenty to choose from. It gets flatter as you head south within the coastal region, but behind that are some good roads (Like the Ortega Highway near me). As a tourist destination, I'd get out of LA pretty quickly anyway and be heading north or south if I'm honest.

Going through the basics of potentially buying something out there. More NW than south of LA but really appreciate filling in the knowledge gaps.
Have a school friend who’s moved to the Valley and he’s enticing me there

Yep you’re right , so many great driving roads to get on and explore!
Thanks again.
