We go to Salo on Lake Garda every year. We always stop at Mulhouse (Hotel Bristol), one year I persuaded the wife we should go over the passes rather than the motorway ! all I can say is sheer misery ensued, mid June, the passes were rammed with German Harley's, Dutch caravans, kamikaze cyclists, Coaches, mahoosive lorries (really) and general morons! it took us 12 hours to do 300 miles, the Mrs was so pissed off she insists we go motorways now.
The passes you mentioned are worth a visit though, but pray you catch them right. If you are thinking of going to France via the Alps from the Italian side then the Petit St Bernard pass is very good and saves the 30 euros (or whatever) for the Mont Blanc Tunnel.

Thanks for your comments.
I know have the Eurotunnel booked along with all of my hotels.
The route is coming together but I have to say I'm still struggling to get to grips with the Tyre route planning app. Mostly because I'm not sure which roads to use between all of my stop for the night points. I still have a couple of months to work on the route at least.
Thanks again!

I've been using the site below for planning my euro trip this year. It's the easiest I've found to use.
