Thetford Forest Highwaymen
Discussion
Since Centre Parcs burned down , try the B1106 between Bury St Edmunds and Whitington.
You pass through Brandon and Thetford Forest...a surprisingly quick and quiet road .
Most of the traffic goes round Thetford Forest on the A11 and A134...give it a go. At the weekend there was a blazing Ford Escort half way between Brandon and Bury...presumably some tosser or highwayman thought it would be a laugh to nick it and have a BBQ? Still it was the hotest Escort I have seen

Agreed, done that road many a time. Worth a go for anyone in the area. Some nice sections with a couple of really long straights to get past any slow traffic if necessary. Well sign posted and marked for corners and dangerous sections.... nice..
Oh, and one final comment - watch out for Suffolk villages. Heard from a reliable source that they dont really mind too much speeding in NSL sections, but villages are a no-no. They put up signs for speed cameras, but there are none there. But that certainly doesnt stop local plod using mobile camera units. But that was before the recent guidelines on not using signs without them being backed up with cameras....
Cheers,
Paul

You are right about the plod Paul...he was out in force at the weekend. Why does it take four policemen in green jackets to nick a motorist?
One to hold the speed gun
Two to stop the car
Three to say "Do you know why we have stopped you?"
Four to write the ticket...
About a fortnight ago, I was doing a modest 25mph and almost run over a plod who sprung out of the hedge waving a radar gun I don't know who was most surprised...he would have needed his three mates to scrape him off the road

Toffer on a more serious note something similar happened to me driving through St Andrews early one summer morning.
I was driving home after a shift on Live Armed Guard (join as Techi do a plods job eh) and a policeman jumped out from a close at close range (say 30 yds)and pointed his hairdrier directly at my face using the best two handed pistol grip.
Now I'd done four long nights of patrolling with a fully ready to go 7.62mm SLR, was "dog tired" but still "pumped up".
The only thing that stopped my initial reaction to use the car as a self defence weapon and take the "gunman" out (before he shot me) was the recognition of the checkered band on his hat.
So madcop et al watch, where you point those things!!!.MoJo.

Speaking of a similar story - my sister managed to avoid a speeding ticket but jumping on the ankors and screaching to a halt. Then jumping out of the car and laying into the plod. "How could he do this to a poor defenceless woman driver", "I thought you had a gun"....
Plod was so shocked let her off.... then again, she could have probably kicked his butt from here to Aberdeen and back.... but thats another story.
Cheers,
Paul
