We're going to be down on the Italian coast next week and will be looking to do one day of driving while we're there.

We'll be staying in Finale for a few nights and I've heard that Imperia is also worth a visit, so looking at the map it would seem obvious to do this:

If traffic isn't too bad, the plan would be to head back along the coastal road... Would that be the best choice?

Any feedback is welcome thumbup

The drive from Finale to Menton in France is very doable and enjoyable. It will take you through some very pretty seaside towns and as it shadow's the A10 you can always pop onto that in the event of heavy traffic on the coast.

You could easily drive from Finale to Portofino ( parking if available is on a par with central London) or try for the Cinque Terre. There are lots of great seaside towns along that part of the Ligurian coast, my own favourite is Camogli.

If you would prefer to head inland, you could head for Mondovi, lovely town and a designer outlet centre on the outskirts for the Mrs. Just a short drive away you could then visit the amazing commune of Vicoforte. You can get to these towns by autoroute from Savona, then come back by some pretty amazing back roads.
