Leeds Area Help Please

Hi

I will be travelling from North Wales to Northumberland by car leaving NW around 4PM on Sunday. I have to pick up my Son who will be arriving at Leeds Central by train on the way (hopefully at around 5:30).

I don't particularly want to drive into Leeds to the Station and I am looking for somewhere near my intended route, M62/M621 then M1, to meet with him. Ideally I'd like somewhere where we could park and have refreshments and a comfort break and absorb any differences in arrival time.

Looking at Google I've come up with Crown Point Shopping Park which he could walk to (Costa which shuts at 6) or him taking the Metro to the likes of Cross Gates or Garforth both of which look easily accessible from the M1 but I'm not sure of a suitable meeting place. I'd normally aim for a shopping park but they will be shut by the likely meeting time on Sunday.

Can anyone make any other suggestion of a good rendezvous point or suggest any likely watering holes in Cross Gates or Garforth where we could meet. I'm not looking for anywhere grand, just somewhere that's convenient and safe! I will have Sat Nav.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

The train station is actually easily accessible from the motorway, particularly if you go via Globe Road (means you don't have to drive through the centre of town).

Somewhere else relatively local is Kirkstall Leisure complex (about 2-3 miles from the train station).

i'd suggest Xscape Castleford - it's 25mins on the train from Leeds.

Hi all.

Thank you for your responses and apologies for not getting back before now.

Went for the Crown Point option in the end and it was fine using satnav. Didn't want to attempt the station as I couldn't be sure of our arrival time and the Xscape option was past the M1 north junction I wanted to take.
