Hi

Got my Birthday coming up, me and the misses have booked a tour at the Adnams Brewery in Southwold. On the way home (To Hemel Hempstead) we plan to take in some views/driving roads.

Are there any recommendations or suggestions on where to go? We might head down Rendelsham forest way?

thanks

I hope some locals can help, but when visiting my family in that part of the world, I find that the NSL roads are all narrow and bendy, and then major roads are heavily policed (with artificially low speed limits).

Good luck!

Perfect ;-) The impreza will love it.
Good note on the police. generally, I find A roads a bit boring, so sticking to the speed limit seems to be the way forward. I'll get stuck behind a tractor or caravan anyway biggrin

Only place I've been photographed speeding: 36 on a 30 part of the A12 in my old XJS.

Put me right off the place. hehe

The road from the A12 into Southwold has some fun bits, but it's quite short.

Take the M11 North from the M25 to the A120 at Stansted, then take the A120 East to Braintree- all very dull so far. Now head North on the A131 to Sudbury, then the A134 to Bury St Eds. Take the A14 East for 15 miles then take the A1120 at Stowmarket heading East. Cross the A140 and stay on the A1120 all the way to Yoxford. Southwold is then just up the A12.

Get an early start to ensure the traffic is light and the non dual carriageway roads are entertaining.

Nice route. Think we'll probably go that way, seems to makes sense.

thanks all for your input.

I took the family down to Woodbridge yesterday and discovered a nice little section between Eye and Woodbridge.

I don't know about the rest of the route but will try it out when I put my car back on the road after the end of March.

Hey Jazzy were you in the perfect condition Impreza with WRC livery today heading north on the A131 between Braintree and Bury St Edmunds?

Hey man. We were travelling up on the Saturday, but I have a Turbo 2000, no decals or anything, so can't have been me!

Ah right, very good... shame you missed the Subaru we saw... it must've been cleaned/polished/waxed/sealed to within an inch of it's life and the reflection off the bodywork was blinding.

There are loads of back roads in suffolk which are national speed limit. In very many cases you will find that if you did go 60 on most of the roads you would crash.

The road connecting Aldeborugh with the A12 (A1094) I find is a lot of fun. Especially when you get to follow a mad man. But it is quite often busy so not guarantied fun every time.
