B roads in Leicestershire

No way José.
That's just after the A429 roundabout which is definitely in Warwickshire.

Some 54 years ago I started driving cars (aged 13) on the Fosse way courtesy of a kindly and indulgent father who to this day I still regard as the best father I could have wished for. At the time in Warwickshire the Fosse way was so little used it had swathes of grass and weeds all along the centre of the carriageway. It was so underused that several sections were still gated then. Unsurprisingly I still love that road and always cover several sections in my driving about the midlands on my architectural jaunts every summer. Good way to see some of the many midlands buildings. Your photos remind me of the changes there have been over the years. That's progess??

Wow, I work aound 3 miles form it and didnt know that. Gated with grass up the middle? Mind you I haven't been driving so long.I have noticed just how busy it has become, especially with 40MPH lorries using it as a short cut from Swindon or Bristol/Bath (via Cirencester) to get to the M40 at Warwick. Its bloody annoying.
South of Cirencester parts of it are byway some of which have no barriers and you can take ordinary cars down them. The problem I had was figuring which parts were open at both ends so I plotted a convoluted route sticking to the blacktop.
Some of the tiny lanes in Devon have grass growing through the tarmac but my co-driver seems to have missed them with my camera.

There are lots of '3-ply' lanes to be found in Wales. Sump guard a necessity. Frequently visited many of them on road rallies in the 60s and 70s.
