Car rental in Malaysia

Hi,

Slightly random I know, but I plan on renting a car and driving it from KL to Penang later this year.

The nationals are quite expensive and I hear that local firms may be much better value. Does anyone have any experience??

I've used Mayflower car rental in the past. Not only were they competitive on price but they also have a better fleet. Typical saloon would be Skoda Octavia or similar which is far preferable to the inevitable Proton from most of the better known brands.

I do not know if you have been before. But please watch out for the sudden downpours if your driving. I'd never seen anything like it.
