A friend of mine is taking part in this:

I've been keeping an eye on his progress on the website and on Day 12 they've put up a picture of his BMW 321. He and his missus must be mad......

I agree, those are some scary countries they are driving through! eek

I bet it would feel pretty good to reach Italy! Can't deny it does look like 'the ultimate driving adventure' though, good luck to them!thumbup

Sadly David and Sarah have retired the BMW. I'm not quite sure why at the moment.....

Another victory for Japanese technology ?

The only vehicle to travel the complete route !

We ran as the 48 hour car - in front of the main rally - checking the road book, control locations, hotels etc.

11 countries, 12 border crossings ( left Mongolia twice )10,500 miles 1700 litres of Derv.

Apart from the longwinded processes crossing borders (9 hours getting out of China) the only real problem we had was getting fuel in France !!

Am amazing challenge for competitors in open cars , covering 500km - 600km day after day , just dont eat the food in Iran !!

Holy thread resurrection and all that.....

An old friend is about to set off on this wonderfully bonkers event.

Ashton & Giles are attempting to complete it in a 1954 Austin-Healey 100/4.

Online tracking is here with updates hopefully on their facebook page.

An old friend of mine is doing it in a BMW 2002. Car 64. It's an astonishing event.
