Following the 'engine from same manufacturer' theme, the MINI engine is of course built by Chrysler in Brazil, so one could legally slot-in the 8-litre V10 from the Viper.

The Merlin engine might have been allowed in the recent past when both Rolls Royce (aero engines) and BMC were both owned by the British taxpayer

No Merlin but WW2 Axis Fighters used a variety of BMW motors, (its aircraft engine manufacture is why their badge is a blue and white propeller).
