New F1 scoring system?

Overtaking doesn't just happen for first place. As usual, the fastest cars will qualify first and scarper off into the distance during the race no matter what the points system is.

The most exciting races are the ones where rain or other random factors have caused a topsy-turvy grid and the fast guys have to race through the pack to get to the front. The only way to encourage overtaking is to mix up the starting grid somehow but I've no idea how this can be done fairly for the teams, sponsors, viewers etc.

Surely the PH collective could come up with a fair but unpredictable qualifying system.

Don't agree with this system personally,it's always been done with points system has'nt it?why change it now

With this idea, a team could win the championship half way through the season and not even need to turn up for the rest of the year. Stupid idea.

If they did that they would forfeit their championship deposit, as I understand. But they could certainly stop trying.

This sounds like another thing that won't happen like Standard engines. But on the other hand, it will probably happen because it means Ferrari can win much more easily.
