I read that when it came out, they used the forest circuit at what was Jan Churchill's Forest experience and rally school, it's now owned by the Higgins Family.

Heikki's father was a rally driver, so he's got some rallying genes in him. I read somewhere that he used to co-drive for him sometimes.

Kubica is a known rally fan, and Kimi will race anything that moves on land.

In fact I think most of the drivers would have a good go at it if they were allowed. It's just that their contracts don't let them.

Re: modern drivers not doing it, Seb Loeb and a formula 1 driver (can't remember who) swapped cars just recently. IIRC they were within seconds of each other in each others cars.

Brundle and Mcrae swapped cars about 12 years ago

I'm pretty sure Kimi used to race bangers similar to the recent Top Gear episode with May banger racing in Finland.

Imagine if drivers didnt have such restricting contracts and were able to somehow race for multiple series during the year.

It was Loeb and Heikki. They did it last year in a PR stunt arranged by Total. Loeb was 1.5s per lap slower than Heikki around Paul Ricard.

I think the time constraint would make it very hard. F1 is really intense business. Drivers might be able to do a few races outside of F1, but more would be too much.

Loeb has just been testing again, in a Red Bull. He is one bloody good driver, no doubt about it. Best current all rounder?
