What do you use to help you make Fantasy F1 predictions?
Discussion
I am in the process of updating a website I run which is based around Fantasy F1 Games.
My question is, although the site gets OK traffic, when making your F1 predictions (this can include betting) what do you look for?
I would like to hear your comments.

- Previous results
- Up to date information
- Weather forecast
- Free practice times

Gut feeling and experience generally. Sorry, I'm afraid that's not a great deal of use to you but after years of watching F1 one tends to trust ones own judgement over the judgement of others... unless it's (amongst a few others) Flemke, Derek, Jon, Rubystone, occasionally StutggartMetal or Alan Henry. I used GPUpdateManager last year and finished in the top 60
Made my predictions mainly based on free practice and last years results. On most circuits it can be predicted which teams will have more speed.
And I look at which combinations will yield most points. On GPUpdateManager you pick 2 drivers, a chassis and an engine. I usually look at how many points the different combinations will give.
Another thing to look at is driver value. If a driver had an unfortunate retirement then his value will drop. For example last year at the start of the season when Massa failed to finish for a few races his value was very low. So I snapped him up and he bounced back with some good results.

That is an interesting concept. My Fantasy F1 game was based around selecting the top 10 (bonus point for right position in the top 10) as well as pole position, first one out, slowest qualifier and number of cars to finish. paulrandall said:

Instead of the times, it's better to watch it and see how they drive, I mean, you can see some people driving on the ragged edge to top the time sheets, then usually they either drive like that in the race and rip their tyres to shreds, or have to drive more conseratively, on the other hand, you see people driving very smoothly with seemingly little effort getting close to top and you know they'll fare well in the race (excluding retirements obviously). Thanks for the comments. The site is www.fwon.co.uk and any feedback is welcome.
