will lewis stay with Mclaren if they are not at the top?

so with lewis reckoning that he'll stay with mclaren for his entire F1 career, is that a naive statement based on the fact that the current car totally suits him and is clearly very competitive, or does he have the loyalty to back it up when times get hard...?

I'd expect the future developments of the car to continue to suit him - he'll be the main focus of theis development effort and team mates will have to adapt to the car that suits him rather than the other way around.

I also expect McMerc to continue at the top (i.e top 3) for the next 5 years+ - I see no reason, barring pulling out because of FIA interference int he rules, for them not to be.

Can't see McLaren not being at the top or thereabouts, assuming Mercedes remain comitted of course.

Then again one could have said that about Williams not many years ago

No, Lewis would be mad to stay at McMerc IF they dropped to being a low performance team, just as McMerc would be mad to keep him if he started driving like Heikki.
