I have just read this in the Mail today (ok no jokes please). What I found interesting was that they said that the FIA were trying to dissuade the Beeb from taking him on because he had the cheek to question them in the past, according to the article Alan Donnelly had tried to put the boot in.
Now I know this article has come from the mail so we should not take it too seriously but do you think there is any substance to this story?

Good stuff, I'd miss his insight into what its like to be an F1 driver if they lost him, he describes things so clearly often making me realise something I hadn't before about the way the cars react under load etc... now just sign up Ben Edwards and maybe John Watson and you'd have a superteam.

It came out last year after Monza, when Brundle had quite reasonably written that some people thought that the FIA's pursuit of spying charges against McLaren was reminiscent of a "witch hunt". Mosley then threatened to sue Brundle and the Times, and in response Brundle said that he wouldn't be censored and that the FIA had at least once already tried to censor him by approaching ITV and trying to get him sacked.
This is great news. Agree fully with the sentiments above. I don't think I'd bother watching F1 without Brundle as he adds an additional layer of interesting information to his commentary that would leave the coverage lacking without.
Have been fortunate to chat with him on numerous occasions and he's a top fella. Remember sitting in the grandstand at the Bombhole watching a Tuscan race with him donkey's years ago. Given he was still driving in F1, I though that pretty cool...!

I was standing with him and some other Brundle folks during quali (a treat as I had just bought a Griff from them), I seemed to remember Rob shoved the car on pole, martin went to congratulate him and was told that the wipers were not working (it really was pissing with rain).... very impressive..
I also had a chat wth him at Monza but the contents of that chat are not really suitable for public consumption
