Ok, it's been mentioned by several people on several threads, but I am honestly getting sick to death of constant 'Off Topicery' that we've been experiencing on the threads of late.
I'm all for going off on a bit of a tangent on any thread, so long as it has a basis in what the original thread was (if you'll excuse the pun) driving at. However, every single thread on the General Motorsport forum at the moment seems to degenerate into an argument over whether or not Hamilton should be in Formula 1 - usually after someone comments about McMerc or Ferrari being cheats.
The best example of this lately was when I just logged on a minute ago to add my thoughts (mainly with regard to Alonso's incredible drive) to the Singapore GP Thread. I fast forwarded to the last page and the incident in Germany with Hamilton getting a lift back on track that happened last year was being argued about. I mean, for crying out loud, what has this possibly got to do with what happened today?! Oh yeah, someone made a relatively inocuous comment, someone got offended and mentioned something that happened ages ago and whole new fight started. BORING!
Now, I don't want to point fingers, but I'm going to anyway.
We're all a bit guilty of this every now and then (I know I am), but there's two people posting at the moment who really need to get a grip. I'm afraid, as much as I respect his opinion and value his contributions to the board, Flemke is the most guilty of over-reaction. That said, he is being baited by TomTVR who although, to his credit, is much less annoying and 'Trolly' than he was when he first popped up from under the bridge, still seems to be trying to rub people up the wrong way. Give over. Both of you.
Still, the point of this wee rant is to plead with everyone to stop with these completely irrelevant discussions - ultimately clogging up the threads with inane, ouroboros-like bickering.
One of the best things about Pistonheads is the really relaxed moderation, we're all pretty much allowed to get on with it without threads being closed with ridiculously over-zealous policing, and I fear we may be putting that approach at risk if we continue to allow threads to descend to this level.

However, it is fun "discussing" such matters.
A solution could be to have a sticky Ferrari / McLaren discussion thread where people could post their praise of Ferrari and constructive criticism of McLaren and Hamilton : )
This could be added to throughout the season leaving the main threads free for other chat. Although the main threads would end up being less than a page long.

Well said, here's to a bicker-free General Motorsport The problem is that the Ferrari fans seem to be massively outnumbered so i find myself having to do the work of 10 men to rebuff peoples claims. Ferrari being unpopular at the moment also makes me look bad.

If you take a step back though there are one hell of a lot of stupid (often sarcastic) commets make by a lot of people. FFS cara van man - i have never seen a grown man behave it such a way on a forum before the other week - madness.
Doesnt do the forum any good, i will try not to rise to people as much.

That is true. And I don't have any objection to it, in context. It just seems that at the moment, these "discussions" are going off on such wild tangents they end up bearing no relation whatsoever to what was originally being "discussed".Ecurie Ecosse said:

People (inlcuding myself) try to reason with you, ask you to calm down and even start seperate threads to get away from you, but you persist in ranting, swearing and insulting people. Grow up, please.
