Ian Ashley Arrested?!

I am probably going to be slated for this as well, but I am sorry to read about Ian's arrest. I first met Ian when he was racing in the 1993 British Touring Car series and then later in the 1998 TVR Tuscan Challenge. During the interim period he also raced in the World Sidecar series. I find this hard to believe because as a commercial pilot himself, he should have known better!!!! His most succesfull era was in the early 70's in F5000 and he won the Oulton Gold Cup in 72 or 73 (he pointed out his name on it when JCW won it!) Ian was as fast as many youngsters in the Lotus series of recent times.

The man is a fool , every one know`s the rules and we all know the current atmos re air travel

Since this terrible day, the American are forcing everybody to 'cry' with them...but when there are bomb attacks in France and now in Israël, they don't give a sh**

(Hmmm, Thom, I think you'll find the USA is more engaged in Israel than any other country or group of countries on the planet ... for better or worse).
Must say I think common sense has taken a bit of a battering recently ... In theory i'm supposed to put my nail clippers in the hold, the wash bags they give you don't seem to have razors any more (lest I threaten to shave the flight crew) and I was asked to explain why I had collar stiffeners in my shirt (Ans: "To stiffen my collars"). And they give you nice bendy plastic cutlery now in case you tried to spread butter over one of the stewardesses (which isn't necessarily even a bad idea).
However I can still buy a bottle of scotch from the flight crew. I could then throw the liquid in someone's face, belt them over the head with the bottle, then smash the bottom off it and start stabbing people, make a Moltov cocktail with my sock, blah, blah, blah...

Thom lets not start the anti USA thing again , we both know where we stand on that
But in light of what has happened its right that we re-evaluate the way air travel is conducted , we have seen what can happen now and have to do the best we can to stop it happening again , and knowing that to take a knive on a plane is just stupid
As for you coments on the USA not being interested , ijust cant belive you make such ridiculous statements , why the hell do you think the USA is in Afghanistan ,,, New York first then who knows London , Paris, Frankfurt, we are all Infidels to these animals oppppp`s sorry just could not resist that last dig Thom

The Americans are (have been) in Afghanistan because there is oil there and they helped the Taliban regime lead the country so they could take the oil back; bin laden is a former CIA agent but the Americans haven't been able to control him at the end.

(I would like to take this opportunity to thank the French for selling Mirage fighter bombers and Exocet air to surface missiles to the Argentinians while the country was being run by a despotic and corrupt military dictatorship. It is good to see that the French set a much higher standard of ethical foreign policy than any of the rest of us.)
thank you for your wonderful hipocrisy 5th biggest oil reserves in the world. Huge reserves of natural gas and plenty of other "interesting" items. That is the reason why USA is in Afghanistan. Who knows who really did the terrible Sept 11 attack. Bin Laden, didn't he used to work for the USA? Does he still work for the USA? Where is he now?
Kuwait? Huge production of oil? Attacked by Iraq for no real apparent reason. Traded loads and loads of oil in exchange for US protection and liberation. Oh, and plenty of US military gear purchased in exchange for oil. Saddam Hussain...were they not gonna get rid of him too? I guess he is still useful to them where is he, whether he works for them or not!!!

Oh yeh, as rightly mentioned before, the USA actually set up the Taliban region (all US hardware, from Jeeps to firepower) and helped overthrow government. They wanted the poppy fields I guess. Everyone knows the setup they have with Columbia...

the Americans need him because although he's a dreadful dictator, he is no religious integrist: that's the real threat now.
By the way it appeared a big mistake from the 'Allies' to invade Kuwait because this country and Saudi Arabia are where the money of terrorists groups come from.
