hi, I am a very happy bunny! Ive just found out the 2003 viper comp coupe is competiting in the japanese JGTC, and wait for it..... The car took its first WIN! in round 4 of the championship. Its brilliant that a brand new car, never raced before can race in the JGTC and win a race by round 4! it shows the new vipers potential. Im sure chrysler will be looking at the JGTC viper and seeing if its competitive, hopefully they will see the huge opurtunity, if they dont do works vipers at le mans or ALMS e.t.c, it would be a big mistake by chrysler not to race the new viper.

the race article can be read on: www.jgtc.net/race/2003/03r4e/034race.htm
(look at the GT3000 class)

There's been a lot of discussion about this new Viper on the motorsport.com forum. It seems that the car is relatively uncompetitive at the moment largely because it has an oversized engine (more than 8 litres) that needs to be destroked and heavily restricted in order to run within the appropriate class. As it stands, the car is not eligible for ALMS or FIA, but I'm sure someone (possibly Oreca?) will look at the feasibility of preparing the thing for next year. It certainly looks the part -

and I know how happy you'd be to see it racing over here, Viperman!

did they? Thats very promising, the new viper has the potential off being a class leading car again. But the 'old' viper is still the best, it has real charecter, it will never ever be replaced by something better in my view. But on the racing side the GTS-R is still up there but not a constant front runner.
