Hi,

Many thanks for your reply

A friend has a 1700 XFlow Westfield which was in the stages of a rebuild but his enthusiasm has declined somewhat. I was competing at a sprint at Castle Combe recently and he was helping me during the day.

He noticed a few Mallocks and similar clubman cars which all utilised Ford running gear and started thinking about building a hillclimb/sprint car to run in the Sports Libre or Hillclimb Super Sports class. As we have little money, we are trying to get hold of some chassis plans to build our own car over a period of time to suit our (lack of) budget. I would be grateful if you knew of anyone who possessed a set of chassis plans/ set up details etc for a Mallock-esque clubmans car whom we could approach.

What car do you compete in?, is it similar to the clubman two-seater front engined design?, is it possible to perhaps meet up at an event and have a good look around the car and take a few photos of the chassis etc. Already having read Ron Champions "locost" book, I am fairly confident everything bar the welding can be done by amateurs in a garage but any advice would be welcome. I presume the chassis is box steel or aluminium and the floor is steel for clubman cars?

As I said, any help or advice is gratefully received even if it is a one-liner telling us the project is likely to cost thousands and thousands and unachievable!

thanks
Paul

Right then - 1st thing is get yourself back down to Combe on Sat 2nd Aug for the HSCC meeting because Classic Clubmans are racing, Qualify approx 9.00 am, Race approx 1.30.
Yor very welcome to have a long look at the car and discuss further. (over a beer after the race maybe )
