Anyone go to Brands at the weekend? Awesome!!

The Orwell Supersports were just incredible - 9 litres of solid glory each. If you didn't go and have never seen them, I urge you all to go whenever they visit a track near you. Think of all the Matchbox racing cars you played with as a kid and that's what you get - for real!

Any one know how the chap who rolled the old Jag at Paddock is?

It was awesome, wasnt it!

I went on Sunday, and it wasnt a jag that rolled but an Allard. There was also a nasty incident at Clearways- one car spins and ends up sideways on; the next car round is an original, red GT40. He has a choice to hit the car of spin. He spins, and hits the pit wall. Both drivers OK, but one helluva' mess of the GT40- front and rear damaged. The drivers cockpit was undamaged, though.

The Gt40 is a tough ole' bird...

Do you know of the name of the driver of the Allard?

Reason i ask is that a friend of mine has just heard that his old boss was hurt at brands over the weekend?

His boss is called Don Shead. Can anyone help with any information? It would appear that he raced allards so I guess this was him.

Can anyone point me in the direction of some information

It WAS Don Shead, I'm afraid. I didnt see the crash, but I saw the aftermarth and it looked quite bad. He was ambulanced off to the local hospital.

One of the spectators I was talking to said he was something in boat building. Does this sound right???

Yep - that's the chap. He was kept in overnight but word is that he's OK! (HiRich will probably post more details - his bother was racing a Cooper F3 on Saturday).

It's easy for me to say as it's not my money/car/body but as a spectator, I can only hold nothing but praise for these guys. I went to a historic event years ago and it was as dull as ditchwater - just a procession. Those guys on Sunday were really going for it big time - just as God/McLaren/Ford intended!

I can't find any gossip on how Don is (though I heard an early rumour that he was basically OK, but kept overnight). Guees we'll see in Autosport tomorrow.
Certainly hope he's OK. We met him at Silverstone a few weeks before. He's a top gent, very chatty, and the Allard was superbly prepared.

To complete, from Autosport, and his son James:
"The old boy's knocked about but doing OK. He's had X-rays on a neck injury and is due an MRI because there's some loss of feeling in his lower body"

Thanks for the information guys. I meant to get autosport at lunch but it was sunny so we went down the pub on the river instead!

We have just heard from his office and they said pretty much the same thing.

Thanks again for your help.
