Hi All,
My lovely wife was kind enough to buy me two tickets to the Silverstone GP this year as a Christmas pressie. I have not yet sampled real life F1 to date so I thought that I would turn to the vast knowledge here for a few handy tips... in particular I am interested in staying overnight on the Saturday and I hear that there is a camp site across the road from the circuit... any hints/tips would be gratefully received... thanks in advance!

Suggest you try to book pitch in advance - there's ads running in Autosport for what looks like a decent site. Probably be worth trying to get there for Friday evening as you can't actually specify where you want to be so you'd get a better choice.
BIG TIP - When you get there in daylight, do look around you! Those big lights and security hut will need generated power which isn't that obvious at 4.00pm but believe me, it will be at 4.00am!! (guess where we camped at the Champ Cars at Brands
)
There will probably be lots of post here saying things like "sell the tickets" "go to a proper race" etc. - all with some validity.
Best advice is just enjoy the day for what it is - a great day out! Noise, speed, warm beer and greasy burgers. If it's a good race then that's a bonus.
Best to get sight of a big screen as you will not hear the tannoy and once they start pitting, you'll have no idea who's leading!

I'm going on the friday (season ticket to brands has this as well). I'm looking forward to the spectacle, but no the race itself. You wont be able to blag your way ANYWHERE- they're no fun at that sort of thing. Best jusxt to enjoy the atmosphere and look forward to a Coulthard/Button/Firman/Wilson race win...
