According to the rules there is sufficient ambiguity to allow precisely that. However I am amazed that those responsible for safety, and the definition of rules to maximize safety within the context of motor sport, have allowed such a grey area to exist.
I think it creates a highly dangerous precedent - both for the track staff as well as the drivers - and the 'loophole' should be fixed asap. If left as it stands I suppose we will inevitably see drivers sitting in their cars in the gravel with wheels spinning and gesticulating madly until some marshalls feel intimidated enough to venture into the danger area. Left unfixed this will create a circumstance where one or more marshalls will be needlessly killed or maimed as another car arrives at the scene of the accident.

I saw nothing wrong with Kimis attitude, when you crash or blow up out of a GP the last thing you need is someone 'helping' you to walk, christ he only blew up his car 'didnt crash' yet marshalls see fit to pull tug and guide the driver to the barrier, the last thing you need is someone in your 'personal' space after being high and dry leading the GP and being dominante enough to win..................by along way.
Ross Brawn branded Montoya a mad man! sorry Ross i guess you forgot the antics of Shumi in Barcelona a few years back when he delibertaly ran into JV, ohh and i think back in the last race at adelaide, Shumi again ran Hill off the road in order to win the championship back in the '90s.
No re-clarify your statement please!.

Talking of marshals I also think someone should have a word with Kimi after his behaviour towards the marshals yesterday.
MMM Have you any idea what emotions Kimi was going through when he got out of the car !!!! I'd have given him a wide berth but been on hand in case he needed help.
Its really strange, at pembrey the other week the tas started mis-firing off the line, and i was fine and composed untill the end of the race when we stopped in the holding area. I could feel my self boiling over so i just got out of the car took helmet off threw gloves in car slammed door and walked away avoiding everyone for 5 mins.... otherwise i would have kicked sh1t out of the car and that was only running mid field in a tasmin race.... blewing up from 1st in f1 i think my head would have exploded
so i'd give kimi some slack

I understand why he was so hacked off but the marshals don't deserve to get a good shove like that. Without the Marshals no one can race so perhaps a bit of respect is due.
I understand but I won't condone it.

button didnt smash his spoiler off did he jack?
Actually, Jenson did all his damage in practice - 3 spoilers in total I believe. At least Jenson didn't make an *rse of himself during the race though...
What the hell was Ross Brawn on about after the race? "Montoya has no class" - well, excuse me - this from the man who's crass team orders have ruined more than 1 GP.
