"McLaren has admitted that its troubled new MP4-18 challenger has failed the mandatory FIA crash test, following a report in AUTOSPORT that the car might not make its race debut until the Italian Grand Prix in September."

What September 2004?

Feeling a little cynical by any chance?

If you are a McLaren fan, then I think you (like me) will be disappointed. Bernie hasn't finished milking the Ferarri/Schumacher 'franchise' yet , so we may have to wait a while..........

P.S It had previously passed, but they made a mod while cause the fail. Should not delay them.....much

It would not entirely surprise me if that car never races. Apart from it failing the side impact test, Alex Wurz has had two big accidents in it (see Autosport this week for a pic) and Kimi Raikkonen has had one huge one, which he was lucky not to get hurt in, according to DC. I think there's something fundamentally wrong with the car

In yesterday's Daily Mail, Ron Dennis said that they have sufficient data to start building the MP19! The current car certainly isn't that bad so I share your thoughts on the new one never racing!

McLaren could be first team whose cars have to have a MOT though!

Mind you, Ron could then flog 'em off cheap to Paul Stoddart as high milage runners who could then cut and shove them with the Arrows he got at auction the other week.
