what does the O stand for ? GT = Grand Touring
Original, or is it the Italian 'originali'? It all dates from quite a while ago, anyway. See the Ferrari 250 GTO, which was a homologation special for 'production' GT racing, if I remember rightly.
But I probably don't.
It's italian for "omologato", meaning of course homologation special.
Grand Turismo Omologato
In the British Championship it stands for 'Original'- as in the car is supposed to be close to its original specification
