With the current downward trend in domestic racing series i.e. Tuscan’s down to 14 on the grid, British GT’s with only a handful of competitive cars and negative comments on this site it’s good to know that not all series are attracting less and less cars.

The EERC (www.eerc.co.uk) is an 11 round endurance championship with thriving grids and represents an excellent days racing whether competing or watching – Sky Sports seem to be of the same opinion as they are now filming the rounds. Drivers such as Andy Rouse in a DTM Mercedes are competing along sides the likes of several Marcos Mantis and a Ferrari 355 Challenge.

The 2nd round saw the series head to Brands this bank holiday Monday attracting a grid of 35 cars for a 2hr race.

Despite an incident in qualifying that saw the left front suspension broken the car was repaired and still managed a respectable 7th place on the grid. After a race long battle which saw them rise from their starting position of 7th to a high of 2nd before finishing 3rd overall and 1st in class the TopCats Marcos Mantis was supreme leading the GT1 field home. Top marks to TopCats for preparing the car and to the two drivers; Andrew Davies and Martin Parsons for a excellent and steady race.

Anyone who is bored and wants to see some fantastic racing with some great teams should come down to the next round which is at Silverstone on May 3rd it’s better than the British GT series !!

Although by the look of it that meeting might be in jeopardy due to a shortage of marshals.

Shame if it is cancelled. I quite fancy seeing something new and Silverstone would have been very handy.

Just spoken to Matt of "dmn" and Darrian is qualified 2nd but developed a misfire 4 laps in. The team used the race as a test session and expect the car to do well at the next round.

As for TD, JV and friends! You will be joining you pal, M.S.S the Iraqi Info man and eating your words.

No not Hindy, as Hindy has always been very supportive of Matt. I remember him giving Matt airtime on the radio at the GP meeting. Just hope all is go for Radio Le Mans.

Bob Dawson, who is Hindy's engineer is an old friend of mine.

I got an e-mail this morning that the Silverstone round has been cancelled, no reason given but I would presume that there are not enough marshalls for the event.

Just watched the Ch4 coverage of BRDC GT. Very good racing between Lynch, Derbyshire and Herridge! However the presentation needs sorting. I hope the Britcar coverage on Sky is good as well.

Clever move... that will make it nearly impossible for the Americans to find him. There are endless companies in Saxony which produce rubbish.

I haven't been to see either of the GT races this year, but even compared to last years racing, the EERC stuff was far superior.
The race at Brands last November (I think!) was in the pouring rain, and was one of the greatest races I have ever seen.
The cars were being driven harder in the wet than most dry races you see.
Superb!

Yeah the racing was fraught to say the least in the wet - then it all went Pete Tong for our Marcos at Druids - bloody BMW's !!!

Have to say I agree..

EERC whatever you think about it, has far better grids, good mix of cars, and most of all, everybody apprears to be there for the right reasons - to have fun!

Hopeing to make the Donington round (re-scheduled Silverstone)
