Its a different picture - taken at the same place. if you look at the number on the side of the car you can see that the car is at a slightly different angle. Did take a few moments looking at it to spot the difference though!

yeah, fair enough.

After posting I put the two side-by-side and could tell they were different from the wheels.

soz to be a sceptic! I want it to be real tho!!

I hadn't thought about it being a fake, because i found it on a GT photographers website. Great shot though, even if it had been edited.

oops. didn't look at the photo's origins. thought someone could have doctered it and left the DL tag at the bottom.

Cracking Picture!

That's not sceptical ! I had to run it through image analysis before I believed the 1st pic wasn't a manipulation of the 2nd (not just now, saw them elsewhere) BUT, the first image shows mask sharpening on the edges of the car which is absent elsewhere and the car doesn't appear to be in the same plane of focus as the ground beneath it, so no it aint real (But then I sincerely believe the moon landing to have been filmed on Blackpool beach )

You know you like it

the first image shows mask sharpening on the edges of the car
=the paler 'halo' particularly noticeable round the tyres is absent from the rest of the shot, suggesting it's from the mask used to cut out the car

car doesn't appear to be in the same plane of focus as the ground beneath it
=if you see a photo of three objects in a line on a table top, the middle object is in focus, the other two are out of focus but the table is in focus under the front object and out of focus under the middle one then its a safe bet the picture is a fake. The same idea seems to apply here

BTW-could all be explained by photoshop and angles (just about) but then I'm a conspiracy theorist

It IS doctored! I know the guy that did it! It appeared on Dailysportscar.com last season after qualifying at Brands. The photographer had a right laugh winding Martin Short up telling him that Simon Pullan was getting some seriously BIG air over Dingle Dell!

Yep - DSC are guilty as charged!

It was April 1 and Shorty did have a moment when he believed it!

The original photo was by Dave Lord and it was 'adapted' by Marcus Potts. If you think this one was good you should have seen the one with the Saleen and the caravan!!!

It is real. Kept up with Tommy on that lap don't you know.

It's a shame there will never be any more photos taken in the same vein though. Dingle Dell had to be the best corner/chicane in the country.

I have seen the new layout and it doesn't look too bad though. We'll have to wait and see what it drives like.

Real or not, its a great pic anyway!

Simon, what are your racing plans for this year? Are we likely to see you back in British GT's this year?

I'd read that they'd changed it but I never knew to what extent.
What have they done to it? Any Pics/diagrams?

The picture was taken by David Lord and is err.... not quite how the car went though Dingle Dell, okay being blunt it is a fake !! David edited the original (which does show the car slightly off the ground though not 2 foot!!) as an April fool/gimmick. I have a print from David of this though as it fools so many people !!

Plans for this year? Pass.

I've had some good offers but nothing that matches my availibility from university, budget, and future aspirations. I guess there's a possibility I'll race in British GTs this year but I don't know for sure. If anyone needs a third driver for Silverstone or Spa...

With regards to 'Sheene Corner', I think there were a couple of pictures in Autosport a while back but it is now just a right hander over a brow. The entry looks quite tight but I think the corner will be pretty fast. You'll definitely be arriving at Stirlings a lot faster than in previous years. People have told me that it is reminiscent of the old old Dingle Dell (before my time!).
