History in the Making

Momentous day for TVR

It's been a historic day for TVR in America. Racing there in the Sebring 12 hour race, a T400R run by Salisbury based Race Sport with backing from the TVR factory not only finished but finished with a credible result and with no major mechanical problems.

TVR veteran drivers Richard Stanton, Richard Hay and Rob Barff brought the car home seventh in class. The gruelling race ran relatively smoothly for the team with only a minor electrical problem delaying things towards the end.

Finishing so well in Sebring bodes very well for TVR's hopes to return to Le Mans in 2003. A good show at Sebring means that an invitation to race at Le Mans is very likely which is fantastic news for TVR fans around the world.

To finish is a great achievement. To finish so well in its debut outing for the team is a great credit to all involved. This is going to be an exciting and historic year!

so if my memory serves me right tvrs recent endurance racing record is

sepang 12 hours 2* chimaera finished 2&3
sepang 12 hours 2* Chimaera finished 1& dnf
sepang 12 hours 2* Chimaera 2*dnf
suzuka 12 hours 1* cerb speed6 good finish
spa 24 hours 1* cerb speed6 good finish
sebring12 hours 1* T400r 7th

an excelllent record in my view, just compair that to the number of porker 911's that start and how many finish..

and as for the engines

the morgan stopped at lm due to its BMW engine
the spyker stopped at lm and sebring due to its merc engine..

I would like to see the CDL and Eclipse teams at these races; however money is needed. CDL can be contacted via this website and Eclipse via Dailysportscar. If TVR are to take on Porsche and Ferrari then your help is needed. If TVR do better on the world stage, this will improve the residal value of your cars.

Well done lads, still a long way to go to catch up with MG, or even Bristol, though.

isn't the phrase race on Saturday sell on Monday applicable here?
Hope this translates to even greater sales success for TVR. I have always seen them as a viable alternative to Porsche--eveif we can't get them in the USA!

And Autoweek called TVR (along with Spyker among others) an oddity. An oddity that finished!

Please let me also add my congratulations to all involved in such a fantastic result.

I cannot wait for the GT (and Tuscan) season to start, never mind attending the big one in June.
