Elise to Race in British GTs
Italian team come to the UK to race their Lotus Elise Sport
Italian GT team and former Italian Formula Ford 1600 title holder Scuderia Grifo Corse will join this year's British GT Championship with its Lotus Sport Elise.
Team manager and ex-Italian Formula 3 racer Michelangelo Segatori will head the driver line-up for the GT Cup class car, which will be run in cooperation with Roger Bennington's Team Norfolk. Segatori is now seeking a second driver for the season. Segatori said: "We have decided to do British GT Championship because in our opinion, it is one of the most important in Europe. Our intention is to do all of the championship, mainly to get experience of the British circuits".
Walter Colacino Technical Director of Grifo Corse said: "We hope the car is going to be competitive, but for us it is most important to learn the tracks."
The Elise was bought last year and is of the same specification as the cars which ran in the now-defunct Autobytel-backed one-make Lotus Sport Elise series.
Segatori drove the car in last year's Italian GT series, finishing 10th overall in the standings and second in GT4 class. He also finished second in class at the Vallelunga and Misano Six Hours.
