Hawthorns - No TVR 350
Friday 31 January
Hawthorns Motorsport's plans to run one or two TVR 350 cars in the new British GT series Cup Class have had to be cancelled for 2003.
TVR Engineering had hoped to be able to build at least one of its new 350s for the Farnham-based TVR dealer, but ultimately found there was a lack of development time before the start of the season.
2004 now seems to be the earliest that this new car will be raced, but there are still plans for Hawthorns to try to get a development car, for testing only, by June / July of this year. These tests however will now be carried out by TVR and not Hawthorns Motorsport as originally planned. As and when these tests are complete, and subject to their success or otherwise, then Hawthorns Motorsport will consider taking the new cars into the Cup Class in 2004.
TVR seem to have a lot on their plate at the moment, with an entry in place at Sebring for a Tuscan R, and Le Mans on the horizon.
