Yes, it's this weekend. The official site is www.daytonaintlspeedway.com/ but there isn't much information yet.

i had been hoping to pop over and maybe give shorty a hand, but couldnt get the pass out ( probably fair actually)
I did manage to pop over in 98 though.. every time ( every 10 mins) when they said "Here at the Worlds centre for Motor sport" we three brits shouted MALLORY PARK as loud as we could, got some strange looks from the Red Necks though...

The first practice session is just finished. Apparently, none of Shorty's cars have been on the circuit yet. There's a on-line timing sheet on http://grandamerican.vfx.com/Rolex/GrandAmerican_640.asp

I just checked in on DSC and saw that Shorty did indeed participate in the first practice. He is on 34th position at 2:03.637 with the rocket Mosler. So, he really just went out for testing. His co-drivers are John Burton, Tom Herridge and David Shep. The race speed should be much faster. The online time sheet only goes down to place 30 so that Shorty wasn't posted on there.
The second Rollcentre Mosler with Rob Barff, Andy Britnell, Richard Stanton and Rick Sutherland at the wheel is listed on place 40 at 2:10.933. He should be a lot faster during the race, too.
The Perspective Mosler is place 3 after the first practice at 1:52.097. That's the time at which I expect the Rollcentre cars to be. Andy Wallace sits in the Perspective car.
Shorty hasn't been interviewed by the DSC guys yet but I'm sure they will do during the weekend.
Other news:
The Konrad Saleen is on 8th. Shorty was driving in the Konrad car last year because Franz didn't have his visa and wasn't allowed into the US. There was quite some at the departure gate I guess.
Sacha Maassen's Champion Porsche is one place behind. He's not from Belgium as stated on the Daytona website but from Aachen in Germany. However, he lives in Belgium close to the German border. Actually, in the same village where I have stored my Tiv.
The Dutch Marcos (Marcos Racing USA, why ?) is on 31st (Peter van de Kolk, Cor Euser and Rob Knook).
I would love to be there...
Edited to say that it started to snow here and I wish you guys at the other side a happy time.

hansgerd said: Congratulations, very well done. Place 12 for Rob Barff, Andy Britnell, Richard Stanton and Rick Sutherland (635) and place 15 for Shorty, John Burton, Tom Herridge and David Shep (601 laps). Hehe, one place before the Konrad Saleen. The Perspective Mosler ended up on 9th.
