agreed it looks like the bat mobile.. fantastic..
funny thing the other day - I bumped into
Laurence Pearce in the barbers in Hersham..
But I'm afraid I was too busy bowing and saying
- I'm not worthy to actually talk to him..

Why not ? You could have asked him where the air intakes are for cooling the brakes, oil, etc and for feeding the engine. Or do they have some extra clever air flow solution and get the air from underneath the car ? Also, I wonder what engine they will put in the car. From its size the car looks very much LMP900. Can we expect some high reving Judd or perhaps the Jaguar V12 ? If I met him I would have enough questions for a looong conversation.

The cooling intakes are all linked up with the front wheel arches and combine in the middle somewhere.

If I can recall correctly after speaking to LP and Fiona at Donington they've gone for a chevy or 'vette power unit as it's already proven on long distance races.
Got to admit, it looks awsome.
Yes, the Jaguar engine was out of question, just too old. The 'vette engine is a good choice because it prooved to be powerfull and reliable in endurance racing (See the Mosler or the ALMS 'vettes). Further, they are normally aspirated and don't need fresh air for the intercooler. I would love to see a 'naked' picture which reveals the setup of the cooling system. The car looks somehow strange without any hint of air intakes. I'm looking forward to seeing Mr. Pearce's Lister Bat mobile on the track next year.
I've been a subscriber with DSC since they started (plus a 'freebie' reader over their previous incarnations as sportscarworld and totalmotorsport) and I reckon 60p a week is well worth it for the quality and quantity of coverage of my favourite branch of motorsport.
I believe you can register and gain entry immediate and then have a few days trial before they ask for you money. Why not try-before-you-buy.

To be fair to DSC there's no way a quality motorsport site such as that can exist without subscrption.
Well said Ted.
I too have been with DSC since its birth and at TMS, not been here as long so not sure what coverage international GT racing gets here, but DSC has contributers from just about every major series world wide, well worth £30
It looks like the car shown is the scale wind tunnel model - not the final car.
We can only assume that the wind tunnel had plenty of lights so the model didn't need them.
If you look there are several places for air ducts on the model both for the front brakes, the rear brakes and the mid engine.
Interesting also to note is the uncanny resemblance to the side of a London taxi cab - did Thorby design these too?

The actual car probably isn't finished yet. Seems Lister were caught off guard by whoever found that "bonus car" in the game.
Now there's an idea for 2004 - the LTI GTP! It wouldn't be the first Le Mans racer with a Taxi light on the roof mind

I agree that a subsciption is a fair item, I was just making the point that PH is better 'value for money', in that it is still free.
the lister does not look very big for a mid engined car, well not the kind to be housing a large jag v12 or v10, but may be a v8? or even a straight 6?
this may seem as a pretty stupid sugesstion but i think using a large 1300 or 1400 hyabusa engine (stop laughing!) may be worth a look, now i know that over long distances it might give in, and there has been much talk of such problems, but the engines are so easy to remove and replace, and have the added bonus of the gear box attached!
The car would have the ability to accelerate quicker than any car in the field, its top speed would be a problem i know, but being able to corner quicker than others and being ligther so enable later braking!?
just look at the Stealth, small and light!
pretty stupid idea, as its no match to bottom end grunt! but what if someone was to enter a bike powerd car? A Fisher Fury? A Radical? or may be the all new Westfield?
i think it would give several cars a run for its money! and beleive me, it wont be long!

Lister have already announced that they are not using Jag power with this toy. They have gone for a proven 24hour unit, most likely a V8 - Chevy or the like
