We have arrived at what is without doubt the scariest and most challenging circuit I have ever seen....Mount Panorama, Bathurst. TV and playstations do not give any idea of what this place is like. It is incredible.
I can't really believe we are here. The locals are great, friendly, even though we are poms, and they love their motorsport. I have done countless tv and radio interviews, the coverage is immense.
We got the car through scrutineering today, but still don't get on the circuit till friday. Very little time, and a lot of pressure. Finishing this race will be a major feat in itself.
The car is wowing the locals, but I think we are going to be humbled by the locals as circuit knowledge is everything here.
Locals are also pleased as it rained here last night, which in a drought stricken area is seen as a bit of a miracle....its the pom effect, they are blaming/thanking us!
Now I just need to get over this jet lag...........

Good to hear from you Martin (I only saw this now, I must have been distracted by the current Henley advert... sorry). I hope the crew and you are ok by now. All the very best of luck from PH. The Spa 24 Hours calendar is finished and a copy will be on it's way soon. Shame I can't make it. I would love to be there. Best of luck from Germany and PH.

Live audio should be on the official site, and on http://users.bigpond.net.au/dmcindoe
Radio communication streams of some sort will apparently be here: www.hotkey.net.au/~davidkc
As for local knowledge, even the locals haven't ever driven their at night so that may be something of an equaliser.
There seems to be some frustration among Australian race fans over the way the entry list has now shrunk to 37 confirmed; some of them feel they aren't g etting their money's worth, that this race could be an embarrassment for Australian motorsport.

Hopefully not, Cyber. It's the first international 24 hour endurance race in down under and they have to build the whole thing up. Look at Europe: Le Mans, Spa or the Ring all live a great deal of their history. 37 entries isn't much given the provisional entry list (which looked very promising) but it's a start and it's now up to the media to get the best they can out of the event. For the first 24 hour event, they seem to have pretty good media coverage and they did quite a bit to promote the race world wide. I think that the lack of entrants is also a bit due to the time of year. Most "world racing teams" are recovering from the season at the moment and don't want to spend any effort/money/time on an unknown/unsure race where there's nothing to win really other than grace. I'm talking nonsense again, I know, but thanks very much for the links and I hope that doesn't keep anyone away from Bathurst this coming weekend. I would go if there wasn't the fact that I had to somehow move across half the globe. Have a good time and a good night.
hey well this is from a aussie bumpkin.
the reason we are a bit dissapionted is the fact that most of our nations cup cars our example of premier GT cars like ferrari and GT3's to my knowlege they are a small step down in performance to N-GT. this is proberbly cause of some mods that are needed to some cars and also the cost of running a car for the 24hr
(Also where can i fine a clear definition of the rules to compare) who run and won at the series and the sandown 500 (another enduro for us) havent entered this years event,
so the field is made up of evo5's, Rx7's and Wrx's from GT performance and our commodores and falcon from the future tourers ( NOT the v8 supercars who race the 100km at bathurst), and even argghhh mirages running around. i dont have a prob with them however the performance cars, where spilt from nations cup cause they kept running into them in lapped traffic, they have a two hour event in the middle of sat before the big one and they run with production cars. (see the www.procar.com site so you see what the different levels are) so why are they running them wth the big boys that will end in tears??. personally id love to see more of our nations cup boys running around (paul stokell in the diablo GT3 and jim richards with tony quinn again in the vip petfoods GT3).

i think the feeling is with the aussie public is that for us there seems to a handful of the international teams and drivers (keep em comming) with the "willing" nations cup teams thrown with them and then the two hour boys lining up in the wrong race and the void filled with 4 yr old supertourers, the future tourers (albeit they do seem to fit in with the BHP and Wieght but not turning an brakes) and half a dozen 4 cyl. cars to finish off. now at other races this may work but a we have seen many years ago when they race the 2 liter cars against the v8 supercars, there just isnt enough room on the mountain and i think there are gonna be alotta tears
