Monza WEC November
Discussion
Now that the FIA moved the last two WEC races from Asia, myself and a mate are looking to go. He will fly from Stansted, and I'll fly from Edinburgh. Been to a few WEC races at Silverstone, Spa and obviously Le Mans, so these races aren't new, but I have not been to Monza.
My main quandary, since the race is 6 hours, is am I being REALLY ambitious at looking to get the 21:05 flight from Milan Malpensa airport, home, on the Sunday night? We are planning to fly out on the Friday. I'd really prefer not to go into Monday and have to take another day holiday etc, and the wife (and kid) may join us, but not for the race, so they will explore Milan and they would go back Sunday.
I know the schedule isn't out yet, but it doesn't look like the schedule for the USA race is yet either and that is in 16 days!

Imola started at 13:00 and spa was 14:00 although Brazil was 11:30 all for 6 hour races.
I know it is November so they may move the start forward a couple of hours to allow for a finish in the light but I can't imagine too much as surely the cars have headlights etc
Having never been to Monza but I have read that it can be challenging getting out when it is busy (F1).

Yeah, I've seen the start times for the others and that did concern me. After speaking with my mate, we have determined that we will go for the late flight on the Sunday and accept we may end up having to miss the end of the race to make the plane. Neither of us want to stay until Monday.
He is more positive that they will start it early as well, and even an hour or two would likely make it much easier.
I wouldn't expect it to be anywhere near as busy as the F1 though?
We are going to hire a car, which will make it easier to get to/from the circuit.

Imola was a 95k weekend attendance so if that is comparable with Monza then should be lots less than the 370k Monza reported last year for the F1.
I'm tempted by this race, but I know that the Mrs will want to come (she has always wanted to go to Italy) so that will turn into some massive scope creep and probably end up in a two week touring holiday!
