Guy Edwards, most famous for being one of the three drivers who extracted Lauda from his burning Ferrari at the '76 German Grand Prix has died at 86 years of age.

A very slick operator who successfully chased some major sponsorship deals, notably including Barclays Bank International . And back then- mid 70s - banks were very staid institutions , so it was major coup . I saw Guy race in F5000 and 2 litre sports cars and if not quite from the top drawer , he was a fast and decent driver. He helped Derek Daly's career , as DD recounts in his new book, and was a man who definitely didn't have to struggle for female company ...

A lovely documentary featuring Alain De Cadenet and Guy Edwards competing in very different ways at the 1982 Le Mans.

I was at Newsweek for many years - we were involved with Guy via a sponsorship deal. Nice chap and someone who could put seemingly complex deals together with ease. RIP.
