Jag Racing Concept
Beefed up X Type on show in the US

Why are people always criticising 'silly wings'? If you want a car that is stable at high speed, it's a very good idea to create aerodynamic downforce (or at least eliminate lift). A wing is a perfectly sensible way to do so. Okay, it's not as aesthetically pleasing as a diffuser, but it's a question of function dictating form in this case, surely a good thing?
Hideous. Just plain hideous. What a ridiculous example of function following form. I mean, just read the text. They've stuck some huge body mods, brakes and unbelievably fat wheels on an X-Type, without mentioning anything at all about suspension mods, performance enhancements, or (most importantly) what they're actually trying to ACHIEVE by doing all this.
They don't say "we're trying to make an out and out race car from the base vehicle to compete in xxx racing series". They don't say "We thought we'd make a real hardcore driver's car out of the donor car, while still maintaining the basic principles of what makes a Jaguar so special". In fact, they don't really say a lot...
Sounds like a classic case of "let's make something that looks good (matter of opinion) and worry about how it drives later".
Quote: "This aggressive wide-body look also reflects a growing number of the project cars coming out of the import car scene". Read as "We're trying to jump on the bandwagon and copy what everyone else is doing".
Quote: "Rocketsports Racing hope develop the car into a driveable test car in 2003." Read as "It's been rushed out to make people go "ooh" and hope they don't notice that we've done half a job".

Who exactly are they trying to market this to? It doesn't make it perform better so that makes it a poser. Why would someone want to buy a poser Jag? I think they are aiming at a niche that couldn't afford this car to start with let alone modify it to this extent. From the front it doesn't look that bad but everything else?
A wing? Ach, I hope they make it go faster so at least you wont be easy to stone.
