One of my favourite events, love how it starts in the dark.

And that's the only bit worth watching now, sadly not the event it was 10 years ago, still a great track.

It was a far. far bigger and better supported event a few years ago, now it is too close really to Daytona and the start of WEC so many of the big names dont go anymore. Bloody long way to go obviously too. In the early days of GT3 and BoP this was perhaps the biggest event of the year with Spa 24

It's traditionally been held at the beginning of February straight after D24 and that never stopped the big names turning up. This year we have had a bit of break.

In recent years June has been complete bonkers with LM24, N24, and Spa 24hrs.

For UK viewers it looks like it's streaming on Youtube. GMT start time is 18:45, if my maths is correct...

That was a crazy start and then the roo! Was Meis covered in blood?? It looked like he was. Would like to hear a bit more about what happened. The car looked a right mess

Bathurst not liking the American V8s! Camaro losing its wing on Conrod would be major code brown.

Nasty nasty accident with an unlapped car stranded across the track being collected by the leading GT3 under yellows. Thankfully both drivers seem to be ok but sent to hospital for observation. Should be a thorough investigation on whether flags were consistent and if "communication troubles" need to result in an obligatory visit to the pits. Could have been much worse. Engel has inhuman skill and no small amount of luck to avoid getting tangled.

I find this race tough, the start is OK and at times the racing, but as with a lot of long races they just operate at 98% for about 10 hours, so you might aswell just have a 2 hour race

It was a little better with more class variety, it simply becomes another long GT3 race otherwise and that is OK when you are new to endurance racing as the track is great, but after a few years it loses that jeopardy bit that I used to love about here and that you DO get at the longer races like N24,LM and Daytona.

Here is some footage of that incident from the crowd

Some of the worst driving and officiating I've seen. Shocking.

The driver of the car who hits the stopped cars appears to be approaching a blind bend under waved yellow flags at racing speed (certainly higher than appropriate) he then (post accident) crawls across the track instead of climbing the barrier beside his car and awaiting the medical car. The only person in the whole shttshow with any credit is the driver who uses his car to shield the crawling idiot.

There were only yellow flags being waved at the post immediately before the incident which was round a blind bend, needed to be much further back than that.

Aside from that, a good field of GT3s around one of the most dramatic tracks in the world, fantastic spectacle, and an entertaining and eventful race.

Thanks for the heads up on the YouTube stream, it was actually a very high quality stream.

As ever at Bathurst there is a flair bit of drama often self inflicted. Apart from the horrible shunt at the top of the mountain the Kangaroo incident was the stand out for me! Poor Christopher Mies was literally dripping with Kangaroo blood and guts vomit Only in Australia!

I love it. It’s always a great race, feels like a bit of a throwback to simpler (more dangerous) times.

The mind boggles at the thought of motorbikes round Bathurst as used to happen
