All in motorsport,

Classic Sports Car Club, who run the series I race in, have brought to the attention of its members a rule change recently proposed by MotorsportUK's Race Committee. The CSCC, and I, fear that the proposed changes will affect my sort of racing in a bad way. Other disciplines may come under similar restrictions in future

The Race Committee have proposed changes to the Regulations for Circuit Racing, to make clear the difference between a Series and a Championship. See: 1.-Action-Sheet-Q6.2-Series-for-Consultation.pdf (motorsportuk.s3.eu-west-2.amazonaws.com)

The most important proposal is that a Series shall have no more than 6 events a year, and that they will not include events abroad. The CSCC currently run a series with 10 events, plus two test days, three for certain groups and two abroad at Spa, a total of 17 events!. If they wish to continue in this style they must register as a championship, for which MsUK charges a much higher licence fee, which must be passed to members.

The current CSCC Series offers choice and economy, as well as promoting a friendly community, as we are all there for the fun of racing, not points. I will be writing to MotorsportUK objecting to these proposals on the above grounds, and encourage anyone else affected to do the same.

But please note! Although the Race Committee made these proposals on the 19th June, they were not published for seven weeks, and the deadline for objections is only two weeks away from now! If this affects you, get writing now! You can email your objections to: raceconsultation@motorsportuk.org
