RIP Parnell Jones.
One of the greats from an era when the USA produced many world class drivers.

A real mensch who so nearly made history at the Indy 500 with the 'Silent Sam' Gas Turbine car in 1967. It was a long time ago and sadly his name won't mean much to most younger motosport fans . He did have post race career F1 involvement, in 1974/75 but despite having another American legend, Mario Andretti behind the wheel , success eluded the team . With his countryman , hard as nails AJ Foyt , Parnelli Jones was a giant of the sport.

Wow, had to Google that.

One of the last of a dying breed, surprising to some extent that PJ lasted to the age he did given the dangers facing competitors in all levels of motorsport during his career; a good driver who will be missed, RIP 'Parnoily'.
