Donington was an interesting start to the new season. In particular, the new qualifying method. Rather than an equal playing field, it seems to favour the top drivers. So they will consistently end up in the "top six", and not allow a "left-field" pole from one of the other drivers. Let's see how that pans out for the rest of the season.

In Donington, it certainly ended up favouring the top three drivers, and they all went onto hog the podiums for Races 1 and 2.

But Brands Hatch Indy is such a tight little circuit, hopefully different results this coming weekend.

In the Minis at Donington, I noticed Nelson King was struggling, when he should have had very good pace. Dud batch of turbos, apparently, and hopefully he can demonstrate his class at his home circuit this weekend.

Cream is always going to rise to the top no matter the format of qualifying.

The big difference this weekend is going to be that hybrid levels will be different in quali between the drivers unlike Donington and the new tyre rule is in force as well.

It seems to me the new quali format makes it more likely there will be a top driver qualifying further down the field. So we get to watch a fast car fighting through the field.

Big roll in the Porsche race there, driver looks to be ok (maybe slight limp?).

Wish Tim would stop banging on about track limits. Yes it's not a perfect rule but it's not as though every driver in every race is getting hit with penalties.

The BTTC races? Looked great on TV. Lots going on. Yes the leader got away each time but plenty of action behind.

What races were you watching? Certainly not the BTCC.

Amazing that he walked away unaided, looked like the car somersaulted a couple of times and just missed the other car that was already off track. At one point I thought the car might have cleared the fencing in front of the spectators. It appeared from the tv coverage that The Wookie was right behind the accident. Thank goodness that nobody on track or spectating was injured.

Always enjoy Brands Indy ‘live’.
Some people say it’s too short, but the ‘amphitheater’ provides a view of all the action and the laps feel quick and continuous - rarely processional unless a small grid that gets spread out.

I thought there was decent racing throughout the BTCC races. Not gung-ho for the lead, to be fair (apart from Pearson's move of course), but plenty of other moves to savour.

And the big Porsche grid delivered a couple of good 'uns too I thought, although I am a fan of the PCCGB in any case. Track limit pings must have made it confusing for the live spectators though.

The three-way shoot out for the championship is looking like it's going to be one for the ages...

I was also there, not sure what you saw?! I thought the races were fun, ok maybe not for the lead, but lots of overtaking and scuffles throughout the field. Re-watched them on the television and they were even more fun. I don't mind not having four extra Cupras ttting around the the back to be honest. Even Halstead was pretty decent, not too far off.
