In Car Video Help Required
Discussion
So, it's the Spa Classic next week - three track sessions booked - 20 odd cars per session, I think.
The car's a GT40 - 1025kg wet - 450 bhp +
The bucket list combination is - GT40 - Eau Rouge - Rain - and it's looking promising.
Can anyone give me some ideas about in car videoing?
There's the rear view window (take that with a pinch of salt) and the windscreen for mounting ideas.
The rear view window is vertical and around 4 inches high.
I'm interested in a GoPro 10 or 12 and want to know if anyone can suggest a specific mount.
The frame I'm looking for is that one where the driver's helmet is in shot and the dash and road ahead.
I'm also interested in the possibility of using an iPhone in the same way and if anyone has tried this successfully or not - and which specific mount was used.
Plus any specific mounts to attach a GoPro and or an iPhone to the windscreen.
I have been Googling quite a bit without much success and times beginning to run out . Not too concerned about budget because of the event experience.
Thanks - hope someone can help out.

I haven't tried it, but Mischa Charoudin has recently been plugging/working with a company called Gapped.
They have an app which uses your phone to record both forwards and backwards at the same time, I think it has some other features too.
Think its a subscription but has a free trial - Would be one to test before hand though as you'd need a really good mount for it to avoid shaking.

Another well-know one is Ram Mounts (that's where most of mine come from - when I was using my iPhone and/or GoPro Hero 3+ Black).www.manfrotto.com

Originally I just used the iPhone with Harry's LapTimer to overlay the data on the video...but the phone got really hot...so switched to the GoPro and realised half the time it wouldn't record (or stay recording) or would lose connection to the phone (for synching video to data), or would corrupt the SD card. I gave up in the end and just used a dash-cam

Manfrotto have a way of mounting a camera to pretty much anything, in a hundred different ways. They’re never going to be the cheapest solution, but are used to dealing with film and photo professionals who need to attach a full SLR camera to something tiny. www.manfrotto.com
