I have many fond memories of watching banger racing as a lad / youngster.
I know that there are loads of races on YT, but to have them in one thread would help.

So... scratchchin
Photos of Pre 2000 model cars.
Videos... Videos involving pre 2000 cars acceptable.

So basically, anything tangible with that era.
... Obviously, it might evoke a few memories.

Went to Hednesford banger racing circuit many years ago. The no-bridge figure 8 race and demolition derbys were good to watch.

Another banger track bites the dust, my brother used to race Mini's there at the ORC back in the mid 90s against Jim Hazelgrove as part of SEGTO. If Jim is still alive and owned the track then I assume he is a VERY wealthy man now.

I think that pretty much only leaves Smallfield Raceway out of the tracks I used to visit in the mid to late 90s. I really need to go again before that track goes as well.

A few memories;

The racing in the old quarry at Funtington... many a ‘wall of deaths’ there.
Only saw bangers there a few times, at SEGTO meetings.

Bovingdon... & it’s infamous ditch.
Saw those blue invalid carriages racing there... the DD was hilarious. All the fibreglass bodies were destroyed & the drivers were trundling around on basically a three wheeled ladder.
( One guy put Hot Rod wheels on the back of his).

Northampton proposed a banger race with electric milk floats... but was deemed too dangerous.
( Wonder what the future holds).

Watching one of the Spedeworth start cars meet its maker...
They bangered one of their old Mk3 Cortina's... I think that some people actually cried.
(Replaced by the Ascona).
