Brands hatch GT
Discussion
We are off to the Fanatec GT at Brands hatch on Sunday, given the slightly higher chances of rain I was looking at paying for a grandstand, however there only appears to be one undercover and thats sold out.
The only other option appears to be the directors terrace which although outside has a bit of a cover, however is there anything else inside as part of it ? Somewhere warm and with a flushing toilet is appreciated given we are camping.

There aren't any covered stands at Brands anymore the iconic start/finish line one was knocked down 20 odd years ago. That Directors Terrace will do very little to protect you from the elements as it hasn't got a proper roof just a strange canvas affair. The best thing you can do is take waterproofs and brollies.
I'll be there also marshalling the full weekend. It's a bloody brilliant event.
I haven't yet found out which post i'm on, but last time I did a GT event there I was out the back on Sheene Curve and it was phenomenal. They get up to some silly speeds on the GP loop and the elevation changes are akin to a mini Nordschleife!
You absolutely must go for a walk round there with a camping chair and set up on the various bends! You'll no doubt have a great time whatever the weather brings.

We walked the circuit last year, apparently we don't need to do it again ....... oh, and thanks for taking the time to Marshal, without you we wouldn't have these events.I haven't yet found out which post i'm on, but last time I did a GT event there I was out the back on Sheene Curve and it was phenomenal. Ooh glad there is a thread on this!
We’re camping from Friday onwards at the circuit but are complete Brands Virgins! A couple of Q’s if anyone can help?
We have no Grandstands as prefer to wander freely at things like this and aren’t bothered by a bit of wet stuff! Saturday was gonna be a ‘sighting’ day but what are the definite go to spots to give us a head start?
Is it worth taking Bikes?
Is it as easy to get to the local shops as it looks on the map? Again, bike?
How rowdy is the noisy campsite (I am a houx annex vet of many years). It’s me, the Mrs and two proper petrol heads aged 11 and 13 who aren’t scared of a late night.
We stayed in the none family camping at goodwood last year and found it very suitable for a family of our age spread.
Cheers, looking forward to what looks like a superb weekend in the making

I don't have much experience on the camping side of things as I only live 20 mins from the circuit however given there were LOTS of Rossi fans there last year (and i'd assume the same this year) it could get quite rowdy! We’re camping from Friday onwards at the circuit but are complete Brands Virgins! Bike to get to the shops would be a good idea, i've seen people doing it before and the walk along either direction of the A20 if you have to isn't great.
Definite go-to spots for me would be Paddock Hill (of course!), inside of Druids which can be easily accessed using the footbridge on the Paddock side by Hailwoods Bar & Restaurant, and then the section alllllll the way from Hawthorns into Stirlings is brilliant when the GT cars are on full chat.
Have a good one!

We stayed last year in the end field, the first field everything gets crammed in, the overflow there is a lot more space. We’re camping from Friday onwards at the circuit but are complete Brands Virgins! A couple of Q’s if anyone can help?

There was one block of toilets, no electric, water point and a bicycle container for chemical waste. You were left to park wherever in the overflow.
Phone signal was good. Take everything as there was nothing to buy on site. Pitches are all grass, no hard standing
It was very quiet on that side. More toilets and showers were on the louder site
It looks like we are going to have to book a hotel now since the tow car decided to separate from its exhaust.

Cheers Steve, I just do it for the odd free brekkie to be honest LukeBrown66 said:
Have been a few times but am giving it a miss this year, entry is pretty poor sadly and the supports are not what I want to see, saves me 50 quid to spend elsewhere.
Would prefer a longer race, as last eyar its about 5 good teams and the rest are playing at it sadly
You do talk some complete rubbish. The entry is the best in Sprint for some years, with 29 on the grid for this event and multiple factory drivers. If you think that GTWC Europe teams are 'playing at it' then you really are completely ignorant of the level of investment and commitment required to compete at the top levels of international motorsport.Would prefer a longer race, as last eyar its about 5 good teams and the rest are playing at it sadly
You may prefer a longer race but this is the Sprint series, where each event has two one-hour sprint races. The grid has had to be reduced from the 40 full season entries for Brands as there simply isn't the garage space. The Endurance field is 56 cars, which would obviously be completely impossible to run around the 3.8km of Brands.
