V8 Supercars 2023 - Gen 3
Discussion
Not long now till the season kicks off on the streets of Newcastle, I'm really looking forward to seeing these new cars.
They certainly look and sound the business!

They are cutting it fine with the new cars as most have only just been finished in recent weeks due to various reasons.
And there is still ongoing chatter between the Chevy and Ford camps about parity....

None of them are finished yet. None of the aero has been homologated yet, they are all missing parts (leg protection, ARB adjusters, even dashboards), they haven’t specified a minimum weight yet.
They are doing more aerodynamic parity tests next week.
To say they are cutting it a bit fine is a massive understatement.

The look so frigging awesome. Really, really can't wait for the season to start, even if it's Newcastle. Not that I dislike the track but a place to stretch the car's legs whet's the appetite for the season ahead.
Given where they are, or indeed aren't, with the aero parity at the moment a tight street circuit where mechanical grip should be of more importance is probably a wiser place to be starting the season. Plus it's always a bit chaotic at this track brownspeed said:
Just seen this thread; I'm in UK; anyone tell me where/when/IF? these are shown on TV. look totally brilliant BTW.
when I was a kid; I had number 05 on my scalextric cars having seen Bathurst on BBC
I've never used it, but you can buy Superview for about £40 and get all the sessions live and on demend replays if you don't want to get up at 4am. That or watch a ten minute highlight show on Youtube.when I was a kid; I had number 05 on my scalextric cars having seen Bathurst on BBC

Supervise is available on two platforms, via the web bu I’ve found the site to be a bit clunky and dosnt work well on a smart TV. Alternatively you can but it via YouTube. That’s what I have done for the last few years and it’s much better.
You get the full days coverage including the support races for the Friday Saturday and the Sunday. You can watch live or watch it back at your leisure. I think it’s £5 per month to subscribe.
I’m really excited for GEN 3. Especially the start of the season as it appears no one really knows what’s going to happen in terms of parity and reliability. Could through up some interesting results. When the COTF came out there were some great seasons.

I use the YouTube subscription too. Works better on my TV and you don't have to wait for the program to finish before you can start watching.
Really hoping for a close season, the cars look like a bit more of a handful, which is exactly what we want.
Regardless of the car, it would take a brave man to bet against SVG if the cars are equal if he continues last years form.

As a Holden fan I’ve lost all interest. It simply has no appeal now.
Sadly I think Supercars is done - the series will disappear in a couple of years. A Mustang and a car that you can’t buy new in Australia (and that ends production in the US next year) is a short term combination.
I’ll maybe watch Bathurst but think that will be it for me. Even then the 12 hour is probably a better race.

I can see for those fans who are either Ford or Holden it matters, but for the rest of us who don`t have allegiances, it makes no difference to me at all.
Same for availability of the car in Australia, couldn`t care less tbh. What percentage of viewers feel that way is another matter I guess.

People have been saying that for 20 years. Sadly I think Supercars is done - the series will disappear in a couple of years. A Mustang and a car that you can’t buy new in Australia (and that ends production in the US next year) is a short term combination.

On another note for anyone, I've noticed if your a Sky Subscriber or BT Sport customer to can get discovery+ that Eurosport is moving too possibly for free, so that's the WEC season sorted , I'm with BT sport, just done it ,discovery+/Eurosport all working fine in HD on the LG TV app
Enjoyed the race. Cars definitely looked more of a handful and the tyres were wearing quickly.
The lack of driver adjustments in the cabin means compromised setup which has to be a good thing for the spectators, especially if it starts raining mid race and they can't soften them off
I assume the race 1 protest was from them filling SVG dry ice mid race? I seem to recall Whincup received a penalty for that many years ago?
