11.00 BST I think

The WEC app or Eurosport Player/ Discovery Plus needed if you want to watch more than the first 2 1/2 hours

Not a great start for Peugeot.

Really, they've been quick all meeting so far, the car looks to have a few minor issues but these two cars have only done a few hundreds clicks to be run in, so this is a staggering start in all honesty, considering how different the cars are!

Got to love the moronic cretins at Eurosport, they turn off the WEC to switch to Wimbledon, fine, you have two channels for that you could put it there, but that is hosted by the BBC, therefore Eurosport are probably paying for it, this is Eurosport UK, who in Gods name in Britain would watch tennis on Eurosport when it is the self same feed as the BBC with no ads, literally zero people I would guess.

And they switch WEC to discovery plus which is pay only and nowhere to be found on streams.,

YOU WILL BUY THE APP WE WILL MAKE YOU PAY.

no you wont, I will just not watch it

Great race.

Shame about the Glickenhaus; blue is a massive improvement.

Well done Alpine, Peugeot, Jota and Corvette.

Kevin Estre? not impressed at all, same for the kerbs, they created excitement where none was needed.

I imagine Estre expected Freitas to be consistent and do the same as he did when his car was rammed out of the world championship last season, ie fail to penalise the Ferrari

Seems that wasn’t the case

Indeed. I watched the first hour on Eurosport and then came back to watch the end and found it was tennis instead.

I know the LM 24hrs is the only event in the WEC that Eurosport really want to show, but they really should have to show the other events in full if they are allowed to win the rights.

They were nowhere on pace, and lacked reliability, not a great combination

I find the WEC app worth it at a fiver a race, but hopefully the new manufacturers coming in will want the races to be more widely and freely available

Indeed Frederic, it is a decent price really, especially as it is clearly not popular enough to be shown live anywhere, or not when the French prioritize cycling and tennis over just about anything. Maybe next year they might be able to sell a better deal, or just do what GTWC do and stick it on YouTube and reap the ad benefits.

AS regards Peugeot I think another poster is being very harsh, they were not that much slower and the car is brand new, this was a very hot race, trying conditions and they were not that far off, for a brand new, radically different car I think that's not bad going.

But it seems they could do no right for you,

Previously successful major manufacturer re enters the WEC and their car is the slowest in its class and also unreliable

I doubt there's much partying going on at Peugeot

I don't think they will be too worried about the pace as the BoP algorithm will help them out (indeed, it would probably not be wise to be too quick in your first appearance).

Plenty to look forward to in 2023 in seems (Eurosport coverage willing....)

Reliability is easy to work on with some kms, pace wasn't far off even before BoP fiddling - +0.334s behind the #8 Toyota in its first outing (and inevitably not at full power) isn't bad at all.

Very harsh words to be honest and can only come from someone a little bit against them being there!

The car is pretty radical, compared to the lookalike borderline dull Ferrari and Porsche clones, I think it is brilliant, but that means it will be more work.

I adored the Nissan adventures, and was massively annoyed when they just gave up completely, but I think the boss at Peugeot is in it for the long run, they raced OK, need some pace, but hell this was a tough event, both cars had only done a few hundreds clicks, so give them a break huh

Toyota themselves were a long way off when the first ran in P1 of course, that’s just how it goes with more or less all new programmes
