All the spectatator areas are accessed from the A170, Thirsk to Scarborough road. Hopefully should be sign posted. Best way from Durham is across A66 (east ) to A19, south to the A170 ( Scarborough turnoff ). You will go up Sutton Bank and 1st stage parking ( Wass ) is about 5 miles ? on your right hand side. Usually unmissable as you approach . ( Don't park on A170 itself as Police will be about ). For Cropton and Gale Rigg keep following A170 towards Scarborough , look for signs/arrows for Cropton village when approaching Wrelton ( see map approaching from West ), Gale Rigg is accessed from Pickering itself, just follow route on website from A170 - ( approaching from West route ). Wass is the nearest stage for yourself coming from Durham and is usually not far to walk to stage viewing points. If you get to Scarborough, you have gone too far . All maps on website give you access information from the A170 so should be easy to follow.

My God , I haven't seen as many Mk 1 and 2 Escorts since about 1981 . I accidentally found myself on a no spectator stage , and thoroughly enjoyed it . The hailstorms and snow added atmosphere too... It's 5 years since I saw a forest rally and it was fascinating to watch the difference between old and new close up. The Escorts sound fab , slide wonderfully and are bloody fast still but the various modern Fiesta rally cars are amazing . The engines make the usual godawful turbo parping but the way the suspension rides over the bumps and ruts is extraordinary
You should do a Roger Clark, it is getting beyond dull and a bit silly with endless Escorts, they still look and sound great, but when you watch historics elsewhere there is at least some variety, you don't even see much of anything, the odd Sunbeam, 911 or TR7 maybe, but I guess it covers what people want to drive and that it seems is just about only Escorts

It’s not just what people want to drive, it’s the practicality of running them - you can get absolutely everything for an Escort. Try getting a body panel for a Chevette, Sunbeam or TR7, and I would love to see more of them out but it is more difficult to run them.I was never particularly a fan of Escorts back in the day but when I wanted to have a go at rallying and I saw a scruffy but well built Escort for sale in Ireland at a good price it was a no brainer.
