AWMMC Heart of England rally championship
Discussion
The Association of West Midlands Motor Clubs (AWMMC) will be running 10 classes again in 2022*, in their “Heart of England” rally championship, with classes catering for everything from 1.0L cars all the way up to R5’s. There are awards for class winners as well as cash prizes for our Overall Champions, Ladies Champions and Junior Champions.
Alongside the conventional classes we have 2 classes unique to this Championship. Our new class for this year is the ‘Club Classic’ class. This is for 2WD pre ’88 cars fitted with period engines, the aim is to bridge the gap between full blown Historic cars and Modern Spec 2WD cars.
Our other unique class again is class T, which is for up to 1.6L 2WD Turbocharged (or Supercharged) cars. The aim is to make the more modern hot hatches a more viable option without having to run against the over 2.0L cars.
We also have the conventional classes, for up to 1000cc, 1400cc, 1600cc, 2000cc and over 2000cc cars as well as for MSUK Historic spec cars and 4WD cars. Once again the 4WD cars will be split between H pattern Gearbox’d cars and those fitted with Sequentials.
The season is largely single venue tarmac/ airfield events in the midlands and Wales and kicks off at Weston Park for the Agbo Stages, before a double header at Down Ampney. Round 2 is the Get it Sideways Stages, followed by the Red Dragon I.T Stages in May. The Abingdon Carnival is next up before a return East to the Phoenix Stages at Fulbeck for round 5. After a Summer break we head to Wales for 3 events. The event first being The Patriot Stages at Caerwent, before we head West for an all new event for us, the Harclech Stages at Llanbedr. The last Welsh event is the Showground Stages at Builth Wells. Our season finale will be The Dukeries Rally at Donington Park.
