BTCC Brands Hatch finale 23-24 October

Sutton's so far ahead in the standings that it's an a bit of an anti-climax this year. It's not often that Mr Gow's plans for the big showdown in race three don't come to fruition.
Do you ever post anything positive? Are you really a sergeant?
It certainly isn't an anti-climax — it will go all the way to Race 3.
But presumably you're not going to be there?
I organised a Sunday lunch with relatives and fking forgot it clashed with the BTCC. Brands Hatch is only 20 mins from me and I hadn't missed a BTCC race there since 1996, kind of - (I don't count a couple I missed just after super touring ended, when the class B nonsense happened).
It is a bit of an anti-climax championship wise, even if Sutton gets put in the gravel in race 1 it still needs an Ingram or Cook etc, to win both races and finish high in race 3. Should be fun though.

I suspect only crash damage can derail Mr Sutton. Always a possibility on Brands GP, but he'd have to be very unlucky given how maturely he's driving this season.
Even if he has a poor first race, with no weight on he'll carve through a compliant field to get into the reverse grid draw after R2. And then he's pretty much home and dry.
And deserved too - the car and driver combination has been the class of the field this year.

I'd be quite happy if Sutton won- he is fab (even if he is a bit tame this year - which will bring him the championship but is a bit less exciting for us to watch).
But I'd like Tom to win too as he always seems to be brilliant-but-unlucky. An underdog who is way more capable than his budget allows - kinda like an early Matt Neal before he became a .
The Turk is also worthy of a championship - albeit he too is losing his attack and settling for points instead of entertaining us.
Gow needs to introduce points for specatcular... eg bringing the "forever forward" points into main points so overtaking is rewarded, 10 points for longest powerslide, 10 points for most barrel rolls in an off, "you cheeky bugger" award of 10 points for a surprise manoeuvre (such as sutton coming through the middle at Silverstone R3). There must be a G-meter onboard... hardest braking/hardest cornering etc can all be pointed.
By adding these awards, it'll mean that if one of the top guys goes for it and it gravels them, at least they get something from the weekend and don'tr have to think about holding back for championship reasons.
After all, it's a spectacle for the fans we want...

Edwards blocking Rowbottom seemed a bit off but perhaps there was more to it than the 10 second clip ITV showed. They seemed to suggest after that she was on a fast lap herself but it was clear a Rowbottom was gaining significantly.
Those Minis just can’t keep it on the track. Bad enough the first one on cold tyres in the first lap melee but another spearing off before the yellow flags were back in was just silly.

Did anyone overtake? It’s getting a bit like F1.
Yea, there isn't much interesting happening in the BTCC this year. Feels a bit 'flat'. The support races are often far more entertaining.
