BTCC - Silverstone 25th & 26th September
Discussion
Heading to my local this weekend to catch some of the BTCC action on the Saturday.
This is my first BTCC event in around 6 years where I've been able to attend; this year I'm with my toddler (3years old) and it's his first motorsport race event.
Does anyone have any pointers for the day with a little one (what to expect? Done the same? Things away from the track to keep him entertained?) I know Silverstone is quite a large track for a spectator but I'm not sure what layout they'll be doing on the day I presume the full GP circuit?
Anyone else heading along? I'll be in a silverstone Grey S2K and a mate will be in a blue Dodge Challenger following somewhere nearby.

No, it's the little National Circuit.Be a bit quieter on the saturday which is a bonus. There's plenty of racing in the afternoon (Ginetta GT - 2 races, Mini Challenge, Ginetta Juniors, F4) plus the BTCC Qualifying which is good.
What's an S2K?

I am going on the Sunday. Silverstone sent me this this afternoon - plenty off track to see.

Yes, it’s always the National at Silverstone for the BTCC. First round I’ve been to since 2019 so looking forward to it.

Also going Sunday. Forgive the stupid question, but is it likely to be very busy driving in, in time for the first race at 9.00? I intend to be at the entrance by 8.30. Is that allowing enough time?
I think arriving at the entrance at 8:30, you will be very lucky to get into the track and settled by 9:00.Conduct of those Minis in a waved yellow section was very poor , with marshals dealing with 2 or more cars on the edge of track .
Marshals also should not have been out there with cars approaching , unless the drivers were in distress , in which case the red flag should be out .
Marshal trying to push a car with tyre against the bodywork , good luck with that !

Why shouldn't we be out there with cars approaching? I'm there to keep drivers safe and keep the race going. Marshals also should not have been out there with cars approaching , unless the drivers were in distress , in which case the red flag should be out .

Getting a car clear of the track or out of the gravel before the field comes round again is very satisfying.
Track limits seem rather redundant today throughout the races, although some of the Ginetta Juniors were really pushing it.
Shedden back to being Shedden by driving off the track, over the grass and using the next available car (Edwards) to keep himself on track even if that means knocking the other car off. Similar for Neate as well as it looks like he just decided to tag the rear of Boardley.
Interesting to see Jordan giving the 2022 hybrid a run out on the track and explaining some of how that should (in theory) work next year. Although if all the years of turbo / power adjustment are anything to go by, i guess it's fair to assume there will be similar disagreements over how the extra hybrid power, battery regen, etc, is going to work during a race let alone throughout the full weekend.
Anyway onto race 3. See if Hill can pull another win out or whether Plato can finally pull a win.

Seems the stewards don't agree with that - https://www.barc.net/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Ro...Don't know what happened with Neate as far as the race but he's got into trouble out of the car - https://www.barc.net/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Ro...
Good result for Hill championship wise although Sutton's lead is looking pretty decent if he keeps on with some consistent results. Although you have to feel for Lloyd as it would have also been nice for him to have grabbed a win.

"Instigated an altercation with the father of another competitor" - sounds like a lower class version of Neal & Plato snr all those years ago I guess that will be Adam Morgan's dad then seeing as Russel Morgan is listed on the paperwork.Gassing Station | General Motorsport | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
